Let’s enjoy the winter months by being creative and learning new art techniques that will open doors into new beginnings together! (Note: the full newsletter with images is attached as a Word doc), If you’re interested in taking a look at some fabulous local artists work, there is a free show up on display for all of February at the Allied Arts Members Show, and you can go visit their Gallery on Cornwall Ave, in Bellingham. It just so happens, that I have a piece on display at this show that’s titled Sea Dancers, (image is to the left), and it’s a mixed-media acrylic painting.
Whatcom Community College Art Winter Classes!
Would you like to take an art class with me at WCC this winter? You still have time to join either the ceramic class, that’s Hand-built Planters for Spring & Beyond, or the Sea Treasures Transformed into Mixed-Media painting classes. The details of each class and links for registration are below:
Dates: February 27th – March 16th , Tuesdays, 6:00pm-8:00pm. Class Description: Learn how to transform a blank canvas into a creative work of art showcasing the beauty and treasures of the sea! Instructor Rachel Simpson will teach you valuable painting and mixed-media techniques, including how to create effects such as antiquing, apply texture and layers, and add found objects to your painting. You will take home your very own painting and learn the skills to create even more. Previous art experience is not necessary. Ages 15 and up are welcome to join. Date: February 24th, 10:00am – 1:00pm. Class Description: Add a homemade touch to your garden or outdoor patio this year with your very own terra cotta planter or pottery wall vase. Artist Rachel Simpson will guide you as you design and create a planter or wall vase out of clay, learning basic hand building skills as you go. Rachel invites all skill levels, including beginners and teens ages 12 and up with a parent, to register. All materials are included in class fee.
