This is the time of year when there’s the 17th Annual Children’s Art Walk in downtown Bellingham, with kids art work on display in downtown business windows starting on Friday, May 5th, at 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The children’s art will be up for the entire month of May for you to enjoy. Free Printing Workshop at BAAY Preschool for this Children’s Art Walk!

I’ll be teaching a printmaking class at BAAY Preschool, downtown Bellingham, WA on Friday, May 5th , between 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm for all ages of kids and families. What a wonderful way to celebrate the Children’s Art Walk with your family and make some art. You're welcome to join me, just show up, and make some art together!

Summer Art Camp at BAAY!

The BAAY.org is updated with all of the kids summer art camps… Of course I want to share with you my two art camps that will be happening along with the rest of the exciting classes:

Drawing & Painting Art Camp
June 26th – 30th and  July 5th - 8th, 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Ages 6 – 12

In this exciting summer art camp, we’ll gain the confidence & ability to work in any medium. We’ll take the first week to learn to accurately draw what we see, learning the beginning of perspective and shading, through the use of charcoal, graphite, oil and chalk pastels. The second week will be about painting, using watercolors/acrylic paints with different techniques to change the look and texture, drawing inspiration from Monet and Van Gogh. The class will also include a walking field trip to visit a local gallery or museum downtown. By making art of the world around us, we learn to see it in all of its beauty. (Optional: You can enroll for one week or the two weeks.)

Mixed Media & Sculpture
July 24th – 31st, and August 1st – 4th , 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Ages 10 – 17

In this art course we’ll focus on three-dimensional art, starting the first week skill-building while learning the technique of collage, including use of photographs, upcycled materials, acrylic paints, textures, watercolors, and ink. During the second week, we’ll explore sculpture; we'll explore styles of sculpture while studying a variety of artists such as Leonardo DaVinci, Picasso, & Claes Oldenburg. Students will select an animal of their choice to build from, learn the use of building armatures, sculpting in clay, and painting to finish their pieces. The class will also have a one-day field trip to visit a local gallery or museum downtown.

The BAAY EduArts kids classes: 3/D Sculpture Art (3-5), and Art I (K-2) at various elementary schools in Bellingham, WA are continuing to grow, create, and enjoy art together. Some of my younger kids classes (K-2 grade) are working on printing and painting donuts in mixed-media, while the older kids (3-5 grade) are busy making fairy & Gnome Doors out of clay. When these are finished, I’ll be happy to share picture examples of their art.

Thank you for all your enthusiasm for The Arts and keeping it alive within our community!
