“Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative place where no one else has ever been–.” —Alan Alda

May is one of my favorite times of the year, when the flowers are in full bloom, the Allied Arts Children’s Art Walk happens, celebrate Mother’s Day, and later in the month is Bellingham’s Ski to Sea event. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate so many things in Whatcom County.

So many great things are coming up for you and families to go see some art! There’s exciting art events like the Annual Children’s Art Walk on May 2nd in downtown Bellingham, we still have a call to artists for  the Pride Art Show & Dragtopia All-ages Variety Show at the Sylvia Center, and I’ve opened up a new kids summer camp for August!

Allied Arts Children's Art Walk - May 2019

The Children’s Art Walk is when local schools have some of their students art work up on display during the Bellingham Downtown Art Walk on Friday, May 2nd , 6-9pm at local business windows in downtown Bellingham. The art will be up for you to see during the entire month of May. I’ll be one of the judges to jury the children’s art and help pick out some that would be a great choice for Allied Arts new card’s, that will be printed for the next Holiday Festival of the Arts.  https://www.alliedarts.org/

Art Education & More!

As you may know, I teach art at a few different elementary schools, in the Bellingham School District as an independent contractor (for after school arts enrichment programs), private art lessons, parties/events, museums/galleries, and as a Teaching Artist with Allied Arts of Whatcom County. This non-profit is one that brings the arts to many kids throughout the schools, and I’m so thankful I can be a part of it and this community. Additionally,  you can find out more about all the fun art events and art classes on my Instagram/Facebook pages: Rachel’s Whimsical Art.

Thank you for all your enthusiasm for The Arts and keeping it alive within our community!
