Art Workshops for Spring!

In this fun mixed-media art class, students will join Ms. Rachel Simpson in making a forest scene of birch trees and your animal of choice to walk through the trees. We’ll collaborate in the art project together in pairs, as we learn how to draw and paint in a wide variety of materials, experiment with different kinds of painting methods, use our imaginations to add an animal in your woodland world, and share our creations with each other.
Embroidery Painting a Sunset Sky Class in June!
When: Saturday, June 15th, 12:30pm - 3:00 pm
Ages: For children 6 and up, accompanied by an Adult (or can be for 2 Adults)
Children and their parents are encouraged to join!
Location: Allied Arts of Whatcom County’s Thrift Art Store, 1418 Cornwall Ave. Bellingham, WA 98225
Register to be in Class: Registration fee is $60 per Pair of Students (1 Adult + 1 Child)
Painting Embroidery Skies with Ms Rachel Simpson - Let's use Paint and Textiles to make a picture of an evening sky or sunset with trees! We'll enjoy painting a sky like a sunset on fabric in an embroidery hoop, then we'll sew stars, & a silhouette of trees using a needle and embroidery thread (young kids can have help with their parents to do this step). You can take home your finished Art that'll be in a square of cotton fabric, to frame or display in your own hoop to hang! All art supplies will be provided. Just come ready with a smile, and Dress for Mess!

Art Education & More!
The Whimsical Kids Art after school art classes for both the K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades in the school year are ending at our local elementary schools. You may have also found me teaching at a few locations working as a Teaching Artist with Allied Arts of Whatcom County, and DBA – Rachel’s Whimsical Arts, as a guest Art Educator at local galleries, museums such as the Allied Arts of Whatcom County, Unique Technique Dance Studio, Jansen Art Center, the Museum of Northwest Art, Cordata Gallery, Museum of Northwest Art, Bellingham Art, and in after school arts enrichment at a few local elementary schools such as: Carl Cozier, Silver Beach, Happy Valley, Lowell, Parkview, Skyline, and Sunnyland. If your child attends one of these schools, you can find out more by asking your PTA enrichment program and/or going to 6Crickets then selecting your school, and going through the list of classes. Support your local artist and teachers in any way possible! In case you didn’t know, I’m a teaching artist and art educator K-12, at various elementary schools & middle schools who teaches for art education programs, and after school enrichment programs in Whatcom County, in the Bellingham School District as an independent contractor, as well as fun summer art camps, private art lessons, parties/events, private lessons, present and at museums/galleries, and I’m also the VP Board Member with Allied Arts of Whatcom County. This non-profit is one that brings the arts to many kids throughout the schools, and I’m so thankful I can be a part of it and this community.
