Happy 4th of July!

May this holiday be a safe and fun one for all of you, your families, and friends to enjoy some great food, games, the outdoors with sunshine, and maybe even see some exciting fireworks. On August 9th, there is an adult painting class at the Museum of Northwest Art (Register with MoNA) in La Conner, WA. Take a peak on my website to see more details of this class, registration and of all of the other summer art courses: http://rachelsimpsonart.weebly.com/art-classes.html

There's more at BAAY Summer Art Camps!

The Mixed-Media & Sculpture Art Camp is still open for registration at BAAY located in downtown Bellingham, WA for ages 10 up to 18 years old. We’ll have a fantastic time this summer break, to make art, and go on a field trip for a day to a local gallery or an art museum together. Be sure to take a closer look at this class offered at Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth, and register before its filled! Last week, we took the kids from the Drawing Art Camp to the Whatcom Museum for a tour and they absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to take the next group of kids on the next field trip to see some local art!

Mixed-Media & Sculpture Art Camp!

July 24th – 31st, and August 1st – 4th , 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Ages 10 – 17
In this art course we’ll focus on three-dimensional art, starting the first week skill-building while learning the technique of collage, including use of photographs, upcycled materials, acrylic paints, textures, watercolors, and ink. During the second week, we’ll explore sculpture; we'll explore styles of sculpture while studying a variety of artists such as Leonardo DaVinci, Picasso, & Claes Oldenburg. Students will select an animal of their choice to build from, learn the use of building armatures, sculpting in clay, and painting to finish their pieces. The class will also have a one-day field trip to visit a local gallery or museum downtown.
