If you’re a Teacher, a Parent, or Community member who loves and supports the Teaching Artists as a classroom guest art teacher with Allied Arts of Whatcom County, & our local events like the Children’s Art Walk, the annual Holiday Festival of the Arts, and the Arts Thrift Store in the back of the Gallery, then you’re invited to our Community Round Table Event:Invitation:  Allied Arts is bringing together artists, educators, partners, and civic leaders to have an honest, forward-looking conversation about where the arts are right now—and where they should be headed in Whatcom County. Your perspective is an important part of that.

These will be small, facilitated conversations (capped at 80 participants) designed to listen, share, and gather real input that will help shape Allied Arts’ role in the local arts ecosystem moving forward.

This is a body positive adult women’s Booty-Licious Art Workshop taught by Ms Rachel and Mrs Semilla of an exciting body positive painting art class. Celebrate yourself with this Paint-Your-Booty-or-Chest onto a 3' x 4' canvas to take home. Get ready to enjoy the sensation of painting your body with affirmations, music, and within a group of women in a safe place. This fun process of printing either your front or backside onto the canvas with others, and enjoy a positive body expression into visual art. You will take home your finished art the same day. All skill levels can make this, and all art supplies will be provided.

Spring session has already started in the after-school arts at a few local elementary schools. I plan to return to teaching in the fall, along with two othr Teaching Artists. Yes, I do teach private art lessons for children, teens, and adults at my Art Studio. I love to teach art to everyone and find that we can hone-in on certain skills, have a better focus, and enjoy the process of making art when it’s one-on-one. All skill levels and ages are welcome to inquire by email. The Kids Art in after school enrichment classes for both the  K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades in the school year are ending at our local elementary schools. In case you didn’t know, I’m a teaching artist and art educator K-12, at various elementary schools & middle schools who teaches for art education programs, and after school enrichment programs in Whatcom County, in the Bellingham School District as an independent contractor, as well as fun summer art camps, private art lessons, parties/events, private lessons, present and at museums/galleries, and I’m also the VP  Board Member with Allied Arts of Whatcom County. This non-profit is one that brings the arts to many kids throughout the schools, and I’m so thankful I can be a part of it and this community.

Spring is here in all it’s refreshing beauty and light! I know I’m not the only one who’s been ready for it to arrive. Anyone who lives in the PNW, can feel the pull of nature as more daylight reaches our daily lives. This also brings us more activities to do with our loved ones. 1-Day Workshop: Embroidery Painting a Sunset Sky with Trees Workshop with Ms. Rachel Simpson

Painting Embroidery Skies with Ms Rachel Simpson - Let's use Paint and Textiles to make a picture of an evening sky or sunset with trees! We'll enjoy painting a sky like a sunset on fabric in an embroidery hoop, then we'll sew stars, & a silhouette of trees using a needle and embroidery thread (young kids can have help with their parents to do this step). You can take home your finished Art that'll be in a square of cotton fabric, to frame or display in your own hoop to hang! All art supplies will be provided. Just come ready with a smile, and Dress for Mess!

Summer Art Camps are going to be open for registration on March 1st! We’ll have 4 different art and dance camps at Unique Technique Dance Studio available in July. Each camp will be full of fun themes to include art projects to make with Ms Rachel Simpson, and fantastic dance with Mrs Patricia Grace. Camps will be for kids ranging from 6-12 years, and 5-8 years old. You’ll want to register as soon as you can, because they are likely to fill-up fast!

The winter season always brings me back to my childhood memories of warm mugs of hot cocoa, twinkling lights, festive decorations, snow falling, handmade gifts, a feeling of being warm & cozy by a fire, cookies, and the scent of freshly cut evergreens. It can be a time to learn a new art or craft, visiting with loved ones, sharing a home-cooked meal, playing games, helping others in need, finding a local art or craft market to see the sights, and shop for gifts. This is all a part of the season, and plenty more. As an artist and art teacher, I’ve got plenty of hands full (How many hands do I have? 4,5,6,8, that’s right!), with art classes, family-time, putting together an art exhibit, while also making more art for gifts & art shopping at places like the Holiday Festival of the Arts.

Students create their own mixed-media art to take home! Including: Creative Rainbow Color Wheels, Mask-Making, Hearts in Abstract Painting, Birds of Color Drawings, Sculpt Dragon Eyes in Clay!

This camp offers time with 2 wonderful instructors! Miss. Patsy will lead dancing and Miss. Rachel will lead art! Both instructors have been teaching in the Bellingham area for over 10 years! Days will be 1/2 Art and 1/2 Dance! Students will need to bring a lunch, bottle of water, rainbow/colorful outfits for dress up days and possibly changes of clothing for cooler or warmer weather. On the last day of camp we will have a showcase for the Art and Dance! Please invite your family and friends!
