February is usually a time that I look inward to reflect, learn, and share the love with others, but this time around I’m doing a lot more planning. I’ve been working on a few BIG changes this year. The biggest and most joyful change is that I get to marry the love of my life and my best friend, Jeffrey, in September of 2024! This is such an exciting and wonderful thing to celebrate and I’m having fun planning for a wedding celebration.
You’d think that was enough to do in one year, but I’m also gearing up for a new Art Exhibition that will be happening August 2nd , 2024 with a totally new style of art that’s in 22 shadow boxes, at the Gallery of Allied Arts of Whatcom County. Not only that, but I’m pushing myself to get out to show more of my art at different art and festival events, where I can bring original art in my Art Booth for sale, commisions, and networking. So many things to be happy and grateful for this new year, and I’m onto new levels of my path in the art world.
Boundary Bay Brewery is a great local brewery, restaurant, and community driven spot in Bellingham, and it’s a place that I’m lucky to be able to show some of my larger 2/D art work this coming April 20th - May 24th! Summer Art & Dance Camps @UTD!
Summer Art Camps are going to be open for registration on March 1st! We’ll have 4 different art and dance camps at Unique Technique Dance Studio available in July. Each camp will be full of fun themes to include art projects to make with Ms Rachel Simpson, and fantastic dance with Mrs Patricia Grace. Camps will be for kids ranging from 6-12 years, and 5-8 years old. You’ll want to register as soon as you can, because they are likely to fill-up fast!

Art Workshops for Spring! My Adult & Me Mixed Media Class w/ Rachel Simpson on May 11th Saturday, 5/11/24, 10:00am-1:00pm, at the Museum of Northwest Art, 121 1st Street, La Conner, WA, 98257
In this fun mixed-media art class, students will join Ms Rachel Simpson in making a forest scene of birch trees and your animal of choice to walk through the trees. We’ll collaborate in the art project together in pairs, as we learn how to draw and paint in a wide variety of materials, experiment with different kinds of painting methods, use our imaginations to add an animal in your woodland world, and share our creations with each other. After School Arts are Going Strong!
The Whimsical Kids Art after school art classes for both the K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades in the school year are ending at our local elementary schools. You may have also found me teaching at a few locations working as a Teaching Artist with Allied Arts of Whatcom County, and DBA – Rachel’s Whimsical Arts, as a guest Art Educator at local galleries, museums such as the Allied Arts of Whatcom County, Unique Technique Dance Studio, Jansen Art Center, the Museum of Northwest Art, Cordata Gallery, Museum of Northwest Art, Bellingham Art, and in after school arts enrichment at a few local elementary schools such as: Carl Cozier, Silver Beach, Lowell, Parkview, Skyline, and Sunnyland. If your child attends one of these schools, you can find out more by asking your PTA enrichment program and/or going to 6Crickets then selecting your school, and going through the list of classes. This non-profit is one that brings the arts to many kids throughout the schools, and I’m so thankful I can be a part of it and this community.
