Whatcom Artist Studio Tour is here! During the first 2 weekends of October, 10am-5pm, you can go on the tour to see over 40 artists in the area. You can visit, see artists working, and purchase art from both Rachel Simpson’s mixed-media art, UV-light reactive art that GLOWS, original paintings, wearable art, prints, cards, stickers, and the talented Suzannah Gusukuma’s electrified wood craft pieces and handbags. We’re located in the upstairs 201 Gallery @FABstudios, which is #30 on the map for WAST (Whatcom Artist Studio Tour) https://www.studiotour.net/ in downtown Bellingham.
Also… I’ve a very big and new art show that’s being shown just this month, that I’m truly very excited about.This new art series has been in the making for about 14 months. The sereies of 22 pieces is a focus on inner-reflection, spirituality, symbolism, connecting my collection of real insects, semi-precious stones & crystals, found objects, collage art, and the 22 major Arcana of the Tarot. Each one is unique and ranges from a Purple Emperor Butterfly, a Luna Moth, a Giant Rhinocerous Bettle, to many more different kinds of insects. It’s called the Mystical Tarot Collage Art Series: 22 Major Arcana, Rachel Simpson, 2023-2024.

Coming up in November - December, I’ll be a returning artist at the Holiday Festival of the Arts with Allied Arts of Whatcom County. Be sure to follow both our sites and on social media to find out where we will be located this year for the big annual art event during the winter holidays. We feature 100+ artists booths and are open 7-days a week between Nov 22nd – Dec 24th. It’s always such a great event with live music and free kids art activities on the weekends, that everyone loves inlcuding myself.

Private Lessons, Teaching Artist, and After School Arts!
Yes, I do teach private art lessons for children, teens, and adults at my Art Studio. I love to teach art to everyone and find that we can hone-in on certain skills, have a better focus, and enjoy the process of making art when it’s one-on-one. All skill levels and ages are welcome to inquire by email. The Kids Art in after school enrichment classes for both the K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades in the school year are ending at our local elementary schools. You may have also found me teaching at a few locations working as a Teaching Artist with Allied Arts of Whatcom County, and DBA – Rachel’s Whimsical Arts, as a guest Art Educator at local galleries, museums such as the Allied Arts of Whatcom County, Unique Technique Dance Studio, BellinghamART, Jansen Art Center, the Museum of Northwest Art, Cordata Gallery, Museum of Northwest Art, and in after school arts enrichment at a few local elementary schools such as: Carl Cozier, Silver Beach, Happy Valley, Lowell, Parkview, Skyline, and Sunnyland. If your child attends one of these schools, you can ask your PTA enrichment program to request Ms Rachel Simpson as an instructor, or going onto 6Crickets then selecting your school, and going through the list of classes. In case you didn’t know, I’m a teaching artist and art educator K-12, at various elementary schools & middle schools who teaches for art education programs, and after school enrichment programs in Whatcom County, in the Bellingham School District as an independent contractor, as well as fun summer art camps, private art lessons, parties/events, private lessons, present and at museums/galleries, and I’m also the VP Board Member with Allied Arts of Whatcom County. This non-profit is one that brings the arts to many kids throughout the schools, and I’m so thankful I can be a part of it and this community.
